The Night Manager

England, Monaco, Mallorca, Egypt, Morocco, Switzerland

A spy thriller with a twist first shown on BBC One in the UK starring Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Coleman and Hugh Laurie. This edge of your seat drama follows Jonathan Pine, a hotel night manager, who is passing information about arms deals. It starts in Egypt and continues to take in some breath taking locations, captured with excellent cinematography, such as Monaco, London, Devon, Mallorca, Marakech and Switzerland. Many of these locations are great for both a tour or a relaxing holiday.

Richard Roper's Fortress Mansion in Mallorca

Badia de Pollença | La Fortaleza, Port de Pollença | Mallorca

An iconic part of The Night Manager was the fictions mansion belonging to Richard Roper, the location simply titled Mallorca. Much of the centre of the story when Jonathan Pine infiltrates Roper's entourage.

The location was filmed at Lord Lupton's Holiday estate La Fortaleza, a 17th century fortress built in the 1600's and set in the beautiful town of Port de Pollença in the northern peninsula of Mallorca (Majorca) in the Balearic Islands, Spain.

While the estate is a private estate and is not available for rent to the general public, the town is an excellent place to visit with the fortress visible from the town and with views from certain hotels in the area.

The Night Manager's Nefertiti Hotel, Cairo (Marrakech, Morocco)

Hivernage | Es Saadi Hotel, Marrakech | Morocco

The Night Manager's Nefertiti Hotel, Cairo (Marrakech, Morocco) Location

In episode one we see the drama unfold in heart-racing scenes based in the fictional Nefertiti Hotel in Cairo. The filming actually took place at the Es Saadi Hotel Resort and Gardens in Marrakech, Morocco.

This stunning hotel is one location that you can both visit and stay at as well as taking in the rich culture of Morocco. While this is rated as a 5 star hotel some reviews in our research show it to be a little dated whereas others have held it in high regard. Either way if you want to get close to the scenes while in Morocco you won't get much closer than this.

The Night Manager Meets Richard Roper, The Hotel in Switzerland

Valais | Chalet Hoel Schonegg, Zermatt | Switzerland

The Night Manager Meets Richard Roper, The Hotel in Switzerland Location

In episode two we are fast-forwarded to Pine now working at a peaceful hotel in Switzerland, thousands of miles from the hostilities in Cairo, where he meets Roper and his entourage for the first time.

While most of the interior shots were done on-set in a London studio and the hotel in the series was fictional, the exterior filming and the interior meeting between Burr and Pine were filmed at the dining room of Chalet Hoel Schonegg in the beautiful surroundings of the Swiss mountains with Matterhorn in full view.

The exterior filming with the peak of Matterhorn was filmed at Riffelalp Resort which is also worth a visit while you're taking in the breath taking panoramic scenery at Europe’s highest resort. To reach this location you will need to take the Gornegrat Railway unless you are an experienced mountaineer.
